I help organisations across aged care, disability, insurance and health design services, build workforce capability, and respond to reform — bringing senior clinical and systems expertise to decisions usually made without it.
What I bring
Most people understand one system. I understand how people move between them — hospital to home, NDIS to aged care, insurance to community — which is where services fail. And I have run those services, not observed them. That is what makes the read practical rather than theoretical.
Designing services, pathways and products across complex systems, and knowing where a credentialed human has to sit. Includes clinical governance and advisory input to healthtech.
Building the capability of teams and organisations — including what social work contributes where the role is under-recognised, such as aged care.
Policy consultation, submissions and research on the role of social work across aged care, disability and housing — grounded in frontline practice and doctoral research.
Start with how people actually behave, not how the system is meant to work. The first task is defining the real problem.
Spend judgement where it has leverage — in the rules and safeguards — so it scales, rather than depending on someone checking every case.
Every clinical risk is also an operational and commercial one. I design so serving the vulnerable and protecting the organisation point the same way.
About the consultant
Clinical Director and Principal Social Worker at Create Allied Health Services, an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (AASW), and a PhD candidate at the University of Sydney researching social work in aged care.
A member of the AASW Aged Care Working Group, Kate consults on home care policy and has worked across disability and housing — including presenting to iCare on access and housing, and engaging with Homes NSW on housing policy. She teaches and supervises emerging social workers, including through ACAP. Her consulting brings together clinical depth, cross-system experience and technology fluency.
